Я увидел два корабли на море.
Я увидел два корабля на море.
Я увидел два корабля на море.
Yeah,in plural ь change to и when it's a subject. For example, Корабли были большие.When it's an object ,we deal with different cases, therefore we have different endings. In English you have one so called objective case, but in Russian Objective case is divided into Accusative case Я увидел Кого?Что? два корабля;Dative case like Этот стих посвящен Кому?Чему? моим кораблям (this poem is devoted to my ships) And prepositional case Я мечтаю Оком?О чем? о моих кораблях.But you'd better read about accusative and dative in English as It's quite difficult for me to explain)))But I tried)))

Thanks for the quick response! I'm a little confused about why it's корабля and not корабли - maybe you could explain. My textbook says that masculine nouns that end in -ь change ь to и in the plural form - is корабль an exception?
