The Breakdown
Blogger: I may be expressive and articulate, but that doesn’t help when it comes to widgets, HTML, and CSS stylesheets. Software and application development is entirely beyond me. In retrospection, I wish I’d taken a more active role in comprehending the science-y part of it rather than worrying about the quality of the content.
Facebook: The exhibit includes only my personal contributions, as I have collected several prime examples of the kinds of things that make Facebook frustrating. Yet, I still consider this technology sacrosanct when it comes to the expression of my personality. I’ll even go so far as to say that on Facebook I’m more of a social risk-taker than I’d be in real life. It’s the usability of the environment that constitutes a rarefied tangible resource, but there’s a huge uncertainty that this resource can provide a sustainable competitive advantage.
Twitter: Gulp. Even the quantity of third-party piggybacker applications like tinyurl that all accomplish a similar task have got me quivering in my boots. Tweeple (just because we can’t decided if we say tweeters or twitterers) tweeting finds its value in the aggregate, often of more use to marketing mavens than average joes.
LinkedIn: I never seen a social media site so well structured both inside and out. No wonder why when I Google my name the first result is this profile. As I benchmarked100% success at landing a paid internship this semester, I took time to really nail this.
