Please speak naturally, but not too fast. Do not read: 'suspect' and 'officer' at the begininng of each dialogue. This is part of a game where my students need to find a murderer. If you see any mistake, feel free to alter the script.
TRANSCRIPT OF THE POLICE INTERROGATION
Suspect questioned: Sylvio Del Vacarro, manager of the restaurant The Old Puppy
Officer questioning the suspect: Insp. T. Sawyer
Questioning at the restaurant The Old Puppy, near the subway station 68th Street / Hunter College
Officer: Hello, I’m officer Sawyer. There’s not a lot of people here today. That’s great, I have some questions to ask you about a murder.
Suspect: Hello officer. How can I help you?
Officer: Let’s start with your name.
Suspect: Sylvio Del Vaccaro. I’m the manager here at The Old Puppy.
Officer: Your restaurant is quite known at the police station, Sylvio. We know that you have an illegal gaming room at the back.
Suspect: Officer, I thought the police and I had an understanding...
Officer: Well, if you want that understanding to continue, you’d better answer my questions.
Suspect: Of course...
Officer: Last Thursday night, there was a game of poker here. Who was there?
Suspect: Let’s see... There was Miss Lily, I mean Emily Rubenstein. There was the old Rosa Clintough, James Barnes, Allyson Jordy (a bloody beautiful woman, if you’ll pardon my French), John Wang- Chen, with his dog, Kevin Evans and Henry Steiner, the florist down the road.
Officer: Did anything unusual happen that night?
Suspect: No, no, the game went well. I think they stopped around 1a.m. Evans was a bit high, but there’s nothing unusual about that. Oh yeah, Barnes won a lot of money, around $10,000. Miss Jordy was pretty angry about it. Wang-Chen wasn’t happy either... But you know, Barnes cheats from time to time. I think he worked as a magician when he was young. One day, he’ll get into trouble... Miss Jordy left right away. It was about 1 a.m. I know that because I looked at the clock. I was afraid it would fall down because Miss Jordy slammed the door when she left. She was also about to make a phone call...
Officer: Thank you, that will be all. You can keep running The Old Puppy.
As or because make the sentence sound more natural. Sound isn't great but it's the best me and my phone can do, sorry!
