Hi there. The text is from a test not written by native speakers of English, so I think there might remain grammatical mistakes or phrases which sound unnatural to you. If so, please feel free to change them.
In my opinion, “My sister and I get up at 5 o’clock. She makes a cake, and I draw a picture of the family on the card for our dad.” should be in the simple past and present continuous tenses because these actions either took place or are taking place today. I mean, “My sister and I got up / are getting up at 5 o’clock. She is making a cake, and/while I am drawing a picture of my family on the card for our dad.”
My students are in their 4th grade, so please help me make two separate recordings for the text – one at your normal/natural speed, and the other at your slow speed.
I think the recording with your normal speed will be useful to their listening practice because it will be challenging enough, and hopefully they will not be bored! Meanwhile, the recording with your slow one will help them differentiate different sounds, and thereby enable them to copy your pronunciation.
Thank you in advance!
MY FAMILY
Ann, my sister, works at a library. She always gets up at 5:30. Then she brushes her teeth and washes her face. She get dressed and has breakfast at 6 o’clock. She usually wears a red dress. Today is Sunday. My sister and I get up at 5 o’clock. She makes a cake, and I draw a picture of my family on the card for our dad. He will be glad. We love him so much.
First recording is natural speed, second recording is the slow version.
