A: Well, I’d like to work in restaurant field, because I find it very fun and interesting. I love being around people and serving them. I enjoy talking to different customers. People come together around food, such as parties, and get-togethers, which makes the atmosphere so light-hearted and enjoyable. So my short-term goal is to get a job as restaurant manager and my long-term objective is to become a restaurant owner
B: Sound interesting. How did you get interested in that field?
A: Being a restaurant manager enables me to stay flexible and learn how to motivate and inspire others. In the restaurant business, you’re all a team; you help each other out and always have each other’s backs. It also helps me have a stable career, a good position and health insurance. Besides, I can develop a range of experience and skills. Working in a restaurant teaches you skills that are essential to life, such as tolerance, patience, multitasking and more. You can be sure of earning a living wage
and well paid to be able to earn a good living and easily manage your living income.
The working environment makes it easier for you to get promoted. With saying all of this, it is not an easy job, there is definitely a degree of tolerance and patience required. You have to be able to let the bad days slide, work hard, support your team, and keep a smile on your face. It might be a demanding job at times, but you can choose to work in shifts or part-time.
B: Yeah, I can see how it can help you move up your career ladder. How about your long-term one?
A: Jobs like restaurant owner can provide me with some perks such as self employment and organization. I can see the future potential of this job cuz food is a everyday part of life and so many people need it. I like it when I can be self- employed and run my own business. However, there are certain drawbacks when it comes to running a restaurant.
You may feel pressure when you have to decide on your own about everything from making the menu to decorating your restaurant. And it is not an easy work. When you’re launching a new restaurant, you may not be profitable right away, even with the best planning. A restaurant will require a substantial investment from you in order to get started. You need to pay for many items in order to run the business. So you can Lack of Profitability in the First Year due to Expensive initial investment. I believe that Running your own restaurant business is different than running any other type of business.
There are many things that you need to be able to manage to make your restaurant be successful such as: Managing your restaurant staff, Finding and keeping qualified employees and you’ll need to be aware of Taxes, Safety concerns, Menu cost and pricing
So restaurant work is not just a job, it’s an experience, and one that you should try, even just once.
