America has always been considered as a welcoming country (for tired and poor people). To demonstrate that point, I’ve chosen to present (to you) “The new Colossus”. It is a poem written in 1903 by Emma Lazarus. The five last sentences of the sonnet are inscribed on the statue pedestal. This poem means that the country can welcome people who got tired of poverty and persecution. Therefore it encourages them to cross the oceans to come to the USA to find the way of freedom
