Louisiana , a former slave state
Louisiana used to be a former slave state. A slave state is a state where slavery was permitted.
Black slaves were forced to work in cotton fields or sugar cane fields gratis . They worked for a planter: a white man who possessed the plantation.
In the fields, when they were working, Black slaves sang special songs to find courage. These songs were blues songs. Before the arrival of the Black slaves blues didn't exist in the U.S so ,we can say that Black slaves invented blues.
Planters used to live in big white houses on their plantation.
Nowadays, even if plantations don't exist anymore, we can still admire this white architecture that symbolizes this dark period.

Hello,
In English titles, we capitalize all words except a/an/the and short prepositions.

'used to be' and 'former' mean the same thing, so it is redundant to use both.

possess (can be transitory) vs. own (a legal relationship)

even if (unknown existence) vs. even though (existence is known)
