At one time, Carmen wanted to be an actress. That was years ago. When she was six years old, she told her parents that she was going to be a movie star. She thought movie stars were glamorous.
Now Carmen is 20 years old. At the present time she is in college. She is a biology major. Some of her courses are difficult, but they are interesting.
Right now it is exam week. At this moment Carmen is taking a final exam in her biology class. She studied hard for it last night. She will probably get a good grade.
Carmen wants to be a scientist. She recently changed her major from chemistry to biology. A short time ago she visited her parents. They talked about her old wish to be an actress. Carmen laughed. She can't remember wanting to be an actress. In fact, the other day she told her best friend that she always wanted to be a scientist.
A long time ago women didn't think about becoming scientists. At one time only a few women, such as Madame Curie, worked in the field of science. These days things are different. At present many young women are studying biology, chemistry, and physics. They are becoming doctors, engineers and research scientists. Currently, there are many jobs for women in the sciences.
