An interview with a hurricane expert
Part one:
Interviewer: Good evening and welcome to our studio. We are lucky to have Mr. John, a hurricane expert, with us today to talk about hurricane precautions and safety measures that we should follow before, during and after a hurricane which are very important to save our lives. Good evening Mr.John.
Mr. John: Good evening.
Interviewer: Mr. John. First of all what do we need to understand about hurricane?
Mr. John: Well, a Hurricane is violent winds of a tropical and powerful storm that reach 74 miles per hour and a large amount of rain. The season of this natural disaster begins on the first of June and ends on the thirtieth of November. But these powerful storms can occur before and after the official season. It can be awesome and destructive force of nature.
Part two:
Interviewer: In short, you mean hurricane is very dangerous and we need to get prepared for any emergency situation. Is that right?
Mr. John: Yes, of course. We had better prepare ourselves in order to behave in the right way when this disaster occurs. Before a hurricane, you should have a plan like preparing a bag in which you include medications, first aid and plenty of food and water. You had better close the windows to protect your home and move valuables to higher location.
Interviewer: What about the other safety measures that should be taken by citizens during and after a hurricane?
Mr. John: Well, let’s start with the safety measures during a hurricane. The most important rule is to stay calm. “Don’t panic” you need to stay safe. You should turn on the radio and wait for updates. You had better stay away from windows and glass doors. After the hurricane stops, be patient and make sure it is definitely clear out. You had better not walk or drive on flooded or moving waters because the electricity and glass, sharp metal, harmful animals may be hidden under water can hurt you very badly. You ought to use stored food and water. After that, help the other people.
