She was born in 1819 at Kensington Palace. She died in 1901. Her reign is the second longest of an English monarch. In 1840 she married the German Prince Albert and they had 9 children. Her reign was a period of prosperity for Great-Britain. She is often called the Grandmother of Europe because so many of Europe's monarchs are her relatives. Her reign saw great cultural expansion; advances in industry, science, and communications; and the building of railways and the London Underground.
