Paleolithic people lived in small groups of 20 to 30 people.
Their numbers remained small because they did not have enough food to support a larger population. They ate whatever they could find which was often not enough. They lived in natural or temporary shelters such as caves or animal-skin tents or no shelter at all and were exposed to harsh weather. They educated their young through stories told around a campfire because they had no formal system of education.
They could not easily change their lifestyle because they spent all of their time and energy in search of food and water. They were nomadic. In other words, they kept moving.
