Title: What are fruits and vegetables?
Subtitle: The power of fruits and veggies.

What are fruits and vegetables? Well, we all know the answer to that question: They're food!
Well, where do fruits and vegetables come from? No, not the supermarket, all fruits and vegetables are plants, which grow from the ground.
Fruits typically contain seeds and grow on trees, like bananas, oranges and apples. Or they can grow on vines, like grapes, strawberries and tomatoes.
Vegetables are parts of the plant which can be found above ground, like spinach, artichokes and celery. Or they can be found underground, as roots, like potatoes, carrots and onions.
Fruits and vegetables can be found in a garden, on a farm or in the wild. In fact, there are so many fruits and vegetables out there, that if you ate one every single day for the rest of your life, you still wouldn't be able to eat them all. There are even some varieties out there that you may not have even heard of. Such as "Buddha's hand", "Dragon fruit", "Durian", and "Jackfruit" - the biggest fruit in the world.
So why eat fruits and veggies? Well, as we said before, they are part of our food, but they're actually so much more: Fruits and vegetables give us energy and essential nutrients for building a strong and healthy body. That's right; I said "strong". After all, you do remember "Popeye the Sailor Man" eating his spinach to fight off the bad guys, right?
Even in nature we can see some of the biggest and strongest animals of the kingdom eating their fruits and veggies every single day. So it is important that we eat all the colors of the rainbow, so we can be as strong and healthy as our animal friends.
So your homework for today is to go out and pick your favorite fruits and veggies. And remember to have a "grape" day!
