Down the hole, Mrs Fox is cleaning Mr Fox's tail.
“It hurts”, says Mr Fox.
“I know, sweetheart. But it will get better”
“And it will grow again, Dad”, says one of the Small Foxes.
“It will never grow again!” says Mr fox. He looks very sad.

There is no food for the foxes tonight, and the children fall asleep. Then Mrs Fox falls asleep. But Mr Fox can't fall asleep because of the pain.
“Well” he thinks. “I suppose I'm lucky to be alive. And now they know where we live. We have to move out. We will never get peace if we..... What is that?”
He turns his head and listens. The noise is really scary. It is the noise of shovels.
“Wake up!” he shouts. “They are digging !”

Mrs Fox wakes up. She sits.
“Are you sure?”
“I'm positive! Listen!”
“They will kill my children!” cries Mrs Fox.
“Never!” says Mr Fox.
“Will they kill us Mummy?” asks one of the Small Foxes.

Suddenly, there is a really loud noise and a shovel comes out of the ceiling. Mr Fox jumps and shouts “Come on! There's not a moment to lose! A fox can dig very quickly!” and he begins to dig.
“Nobody in the world can dig as quick as a fox!”
Mrs Fox starts to help Mr Fox. The children also start to help.

The tunnel grows. The mother and the father and all the children are digging together. After one hour, Mr Fox stops. All is quiet. “Phew!” says Mr Fox. “Well done, everyone!”

They all sit down and Mrs Fox says to her children, “Your father is a fantastic fox.”
Mr Fox looks at his wife and she smiles. He loves her very much.

My name is Tom. I am 11 years old and I live in England. I have a big family. I have a mother whose name is Helen and I have a father whose name is Bob. My mum is 36 and my dad is 40. My mother’s sister is my aunt, Lucy. Lucy’s husband is Daryl, my uncle. They are both 30. Lucy and Daryl have a daughter. Their daughter’s name is Emily so Emily is my cousin. They don’t have a son.
My father’s brother is my uncle Luke. He doesn’t have a wife. He is 25 years old. He doesn’t have any children. My father and uncle Lucke have parents: their names are Nancy and Eddy. Nancy and Eddy are my grandparents. They are 66 and 68 years old.
My mother’s parents are my other grandparents. Their names are Jane and Joe. Jane is 62 and Joe is 63.

Before World War 2 ended, the Empire of Japan ruled Taiwan for five decades. Maybe that’s why Japanese tourists feel at home traveling to their neighboring island to the south. The Japanese left behind a mixed legacy, which involved both the genocide of the indigenous people on the island and the building of important infrastructure. The history doesn’t stop most Taiwanese locals from welcoming tourists from Japan with open arms. Many people in the older generation who survived the colonial period speak Japanese, and Japanese culture is a popular staple in Taiwan, including food, films, and comic books

“Well, my darling,” says Mr Fox. “What do you want to eat tonight?”
“I want to eat duck tonight”, says Mrs Fox. “Bring two fat ducks please. One for you and me, and one for the children. Be careful.”
“My darling,” says Mr Fox, “I can smell the farmers. Boggis has a chicken smell, Bunce has a goose smell, and Bean has an apple smell.”

“Yes, but don't be imprudent.” says Mrs Fox.
“Don't worry,” says Mr Fox. “See you later.”

But Mr Fox doesn't know the plan of the three farmers. They are outside the hole, behind a tree. They are waiting. The wind is blowing in the opposite direction, Mr Fox can't smell the farmers.

Mr Fox comes out of the hole. He stops and smells the air. He is really careful. He doesn't smell any sign of danger. He walks and he hears a tiny noise. He stops and waits. The wood is very quiet and the moon is shining.
Then, Mr Fox sees a shining object far away. What is it? It is coming. Oh no! It's a gun!
Quickly, Mr Fox jumps in the hole and hears BANG-BANG-BANG !

Boggis and Bunce and Bean comes out from the trees.

“Oh no! There is some blood. It must be from the tail of the fox. The fox is not here. It's too late!” says Boggis.

Beans drinks some cider and says “Now we must wait three days before Mr Fox is hungry and comes out of the hole. I can't wait. Let's dig the fox out !”

“Ah” says Boggis. “That's a good plan! We can wait for a moment and dig the fox out. We know he is here.”

“I'm sure there is a big family of foxes in the hole.” Bunce says.

“A lot of foxes!” says Bean. “Let's get the shovels !”

On a hill, there is a wood.
In the wood, there is a really big tree.
Under the tree, there is a hole.
In the hole live Mr Fox and Mrs Fox and their four small foxes.

Every evening, when it's dark, Mr Fox asks Mrs Fox : “Well, my darling, what do you want to eat ? A plump chicken from Boggis ? A duck or a goose from Bunce ? Or a turkey from Bean ?”
And when Mrs Fox tells what she wants, Mr Fox goes to the vallley, at night, and steals food.

Boggis and Bunce and Bean know very well what Mr Fox does, and they are really angry. And they are really stubborn. They don't like when the fox steals food. So every night, the farmers take a shotgun and hide in a dark place to catch the robber.
But Mr Fox is extremely clever. He always changes direction when he smells the farmers.

“ We must kill the fox !” cries Bean.

“ But how?” says Boggis. “How can we catch the fox?”

“I have a plan.” Bean answers. “Tomorrow night, we can hide outside the hole where the fox lives. And when he comes out... Bang! Bang-bang-bang-bang!”

“Very clever”, says Bunce, “But first, we must find the hole.”

“My dear Bunce, I know where it is” says Bean. “It's in the wood on the hill. It's under a really big tree...”
