If possible I would like to hear in American Accent, casual pronunciation. Thanks in advance!
Phrasal Verb:
(Go for)
Meaning #1:Attack
Example:
The neighbour's dog WENT FOR the postman and bit him.
Meaning #2: Be attracted to
Example:She tends to GO FOR guys like him.
Meaning #3:Choose, select
Example: I'll GO FOR the soup of the day, followed by the duck.
Meaning #4:Try to get
Example:
The player WENT FOR the ball but missed.
Meaning #5: Have something favourable
Example:
The play didn't have much GOING FOR IT and we left halfway through.
Meaning #6: Pass for or serve as
Example:
It's a couch that also GOES FOR a bed.
This is a tricky combination that sounds good if you use it correctly. As someone who studies foreign languages, I notice when foreigners use idiomatic stuff like this and I'm impressed when I hear 'go for' used correctly.
The last example however sounds off to me. It may be correct but I just don't hear it used. I would recommend not using #6 and using "Pass for or serve as" instead.
