Sherlock Holmes’s first story is entitled "A Study in Scarlet".
The story takes place during the reign of Queen Victoria, in the 19th century; at the same period when Jack the Ripper would strangle prostitutes in the borough of Whitechapel, London. The criminal was never arrested.
