Irish or British accent would be great.

Ireland is a small country in western Europe. It is located west of the United Kingdom. The country is sometimes called the Republic of Ireland, but its official name is Ireland.

The capital city of the Republic of Ireland is Dublin, which is a lively and very modern city. Companies like Hewlett Packard, Dell or Google have branches there. The second largest city is Cork.

The Irish flag has three colors which are - from left to right - green, white and orange.

About 4.6 million people live in Ireland and all of them speak English. But the first official language of the country is Irish, which is taught in many schools.

Ireland is sometimes called the emerald island which means the green island. That's because the beautiful countryside shows all kinds of green. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. There are meadows, lakes, mountains, beaches and cliffs.
Thanks to the long history there are also many castles all over the country. Some of these are still inhabited, some are only visited by tourists.

An important symbol of Ireland is the shamrock. Now, what is a shamrock? It is a small plant with three green leaves. The leaves look like small hearts. It is very similar to the four leaf clover, but it has only three leaves.

Actually the island of Ireland is divided in two countries.
A small part in the north of the island is called Northern Ireland and belongs to the United Kingdom. Its capital is Belfast.

Hopefully you can still make some use of this a YEAR later. ;-) Also...

1) “…the first official language of the country is Irish, which is taught in many schools.”
Irish is mandatory for all students up to age 17-18 (High school). Some recent immigrants can get exemptions but every other student and school must learn it.

2) “Thanks to the long history there are also many castles all over the country.“ It was only after reading this I noticed that it probably should be “Thanks to its long history“ or “Thanks to Ireland’s long history”

3) “...is called Northern Ireland and belongs to the United Kingdom.”
This is not exactly correct. The full name of our neighbouring state is “the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” so the "belongs to" part is not quite right. If you want to see how complicated geography and politics of naming can get here, see - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminology_of_the_British_Isles
