25일 기상청에 따르면 올해 장마는 6월 18일 제주도에서 시작돼 17일 중부지방까지 올라온 뒤 태풍 '카눈'이 다가오며 끝났다. 가뭄에 시달렸던 중부 지방은 장마기간도 가장 짧다. 중부지방의 장마는 평년보다 4~5일 늦게 시작돼 7~8일 일찍 끝났다. 평년 32일에 비해 19일에 불과하다. 남부지방과 제주도의 장마 기간은 30일로 평년(32)일과 큰 차이가 없는 편이다. 장마가 남부지방은 5일, 제주도는 1일 일찍 시작했고, 6~7일과 3~4일씩 일찍 종료됐다.
