I am learning English at the Escuela de Idiomas. There are a few rules to observe if you study there. For example, you have to be punctual, you have to do your homework, you can’t have your mobile phone on in class and you can’t eat.
I think it’s logical to have some rules, for example, I agree that we are not allowed to keep our mobiles on. If everybody had their mobiles on, the class would often be interrupted by incoming calls or messages. I also think that eating in class is not a good idea. The smell of food in class is not a nice thing, especially when you are concentrating. On the other hand, I think they shouldn’t be so strict with punctuality. The traffic in Madrid is terrible, and the public transport doesn’t work as well as it used to. So, being late, if not regularly, should be excused. In addition, even though we are supposed to do our homework, most of us have many obligations (family, work, etc.) and sometimes it’s simply not possible to do it.
