日立製作所は２１日、世界一速いエレベーターを開発したと発表した。２０１６年に完成予定の中国・広州市の１１１階建てビルに、２基取り付ける。時速７２キロ（分速１２００メートル）で、１階から終点の９５階まで４３秒で着くという。
現時点では、台湾の１０１階建てビルにある東芝エレベータ製のものが分速１０１０メートルで最速だったが、日立製はこれを大きく上回る。
巻き上げる力が従来より３割強い新型モーターを開発した。かごを引くロープは強度を高め、約３割軽くした。揺れや急激な気圧の変化を抑える工夫もした。
新しいビルの建設が相次ぐ中国は、世界のエレベーター需要の６割を占める。池村敏郎常務は「世界最速の開発で、日立の技術力を示すことができる」と話した。（内山修）

On the 21st, the Hitachi Company announced the development of the world's fastest elevator. Two 111-story buildings are scheduled for completion in 2016 in Guangzhou China. At a speed of 72 kilometers per hour (1200 meters per second), it has been said that the elevator can go from the 1st floor to the 95th floor in 43 seconds.
Currently, Taiwan has a 101-story building with an elevator by the Toshiba Company that goes 1010 meters per second. Hitachi's elevator will be faster.
The new lifting cable has been developed to be 30% stronger. The elevator box rope will have increased strength, and approximately 30% lighter. Solutions have also been made for sudden vibrations from atmospheric pressure.
China continues to account for 60% of the demand for elevators in new building construction. "The development of the world's fastest elevator can showcase Hitachi Corporation's technological strength" says Managing Director 池村敏郎.
