This is a really long list and full of extremely obscure words. Even as an educated English speaker, I have not seen many of these. For example "stoep" is a South African word.

Can you make a shorter list?

Hi! According to wiktionary "stoep" is a raised veranda in front of a house and it is pronounced as /stuːp/. The meanings of the words are not important, the pronouncing is important, because I will make flashcard of minimal pairs to train my ears. And about the length of the list, I think it is not too long and has only 36 words. Recording will take about 5 - 7 minutes, tops. I will be endlessly grateful for this. Thanks in advance!

I can read IPA, but since these words are unfamiliar, there is a greater chance for error. One error and I have to restart the entire thing again. It could be very frustrating, that's all.

I have added the IPA transcript for each word. I hope this will help you make the recording easier and faster.

These IPA transliterations aren't correct.

foreword forward [ˈfɔːwɜːd] [ˈfɔːwəd] doesn't have /r/ and the vowels are not long.
/ˈfɔrˌwɜrd/ | /ˈfɔr wərd/
Please use www.dictionary.com or some such site.

Thanks for the suggestion, but dictionary.com says that
foreword - /ˈfɔːˌwɜːd/
forward - /ˈfɔːwəd/
I suppose you are talking about R-colored ɝ and ɚ. I know about them, but usual dictionaries don't use symbols to write this variant of the sounds. Because of that I don't usually use them either. If it will be helpful to change not R-colored ɜ and ə to R-colored ones, leave a message please.

Huh? Please visit this link: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/foreword?s=t

You will see: /ˈfɔrˌwɜrd, -wərd, ˈfoʊr-/
You will not see: /ˈfɔːˌwɜːd/

I'm not talking about a special symbol, I saying two symbols 'ɜ' and 'r'. I understand that 'r-colored' is correct, but no 'r' of any kind is just wrong. For example: 'daɪvəz' sounds like "divuhz" without 'r' present in the transliteration (the Arnold Schwarzenegger accent) . I don't think you want someone to read it like that.

Sorry. You are right. My browser just doesn't show the site correctly and I couldn't see what you would like me to see, but yet /ˈfɔːˌwɜːd/ exists more below. It is from British Dictionary. Anyway I am grateful for your corrections and just rewrote the IPA transcript. I am hoping it is Ok now :)

One thing I'm still not sure about is:

divers divers [ˈdaɪ vɜrz] [ˈdaɪ vərz]

I'm not aware of any word that sounds like [ˈdaɪ vɜrz]. Do you mean "diverse" (/dɪˈvɜrs, daɪ-, ˈdaɪ vɜrs/)? If not, can you link the word?

VladimirRed

You are right. This should be "diverse" /ˈdaɪ vɜrs/. I have corrected it. I am still hoping it is ready to be recorded.

Hah, I wouldn't ask all of this from you and then not help you. Yes, I will record these for you when I get home.
