日本男子で初めて金メダルを獲得した高橋大輔（２４＝関大大学院）は、５月にも右ひざに入ったボルトを抜く手術を受けることを明かした。
０８年１０月に右ひざ前十字じん帯断裂と内側半月板損傷の重傷を負い、同１１月の手術で患部にボルトを入れていた。「１週間入院して、手術後は１カ月スケート靴を履けなくなるが、抜くのは早い方がいい」。東京での世界選手権で連覇を狙う来季については「試合でやったことのないジャンルの曲をやりたい。エキゾチック系とかジャズとか和物っぽいやつとかアジア風とか」と話した。
