“Hi,” Helen called after she reached them. “What’s the matter?”
“Come closer, Helen dear,” one of them, Ann, said.
Helen walked toward them.
“What’s the matter, guys?” Helen asked again.
“We will ask you something,” the tall and fat one, Charlotte, said. “But, please, don’t be angry to us... and please be honest.”
Helen frowned for a while. “Alright,” finally she said, nodded her head.
“Ok, this is the question,” said Charlotte. “Do you like Joe?”
Helen froze for a moment.
“Wait,” she said, unsure. “What do you ask this for?”
“Just answer our question, Helen,” said the tall and thin, Fizz.
Helen felt a bit of indecision. She was afraid to say the truth — she liked Joe. The thing that made her afraid was what if the girls all hated her.
“Be honest, Helen,” said Charlotte. “We won’t hurt you, whatever your answer.”
